After five films, you would think that this would have become a tired franchise, but the way that it takes on the spy genre as both an intelligent espionage thriller as well as a big-budget blockbuster makes it even better than the James Bond films.
The action in this film is stunning. Each of the big action sequences are all high-octane thrill-rides that never let up and make this such an entertaining film.
    Tom Cruise proves that he's a blockbuster…

    This movie was amazing.
Ian McKellen was wonderful portraying both a 93 year-old and a 60 year-old Sherlock Holmes, and showing the character in two different stages of his life. Milo Parker was also wonderful, I can't wait to see what he does next.
The cinematography and locations for shooting in this film are breathtaking, particularly all the shots overlooking the white cliffs of Dover. The music in this film was also very moving.
Mr. Holmes is a brilliant film and one that truly deserves to be a part of the Sherlock Holmes canon.

As somebody who has a great love of history and geography, this movie is obviously full of mistakes and stereotypes. I can understand why many people are rating this film low.
I went to watch this movie because I wanted to watch a colourful movie with impressive sets and costumes. The acting was good enough. I really liked Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje in this film even though he played a very stereotypical character and could have had more screening time.

The acting in this film is wonderful and the story quite straightforward but it is done with both heart and a sense of humor.
There is excellent use of flashback and beautiful shots of Vienna.
It's a lovely movie. Informative, entertaining and thought provoking with excellent acting from both Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds, as well as the rest of the cast.
