Candyman ★★★

I thoroughly enjoyed the climb up candyman mountain, but the inevitable descent and eventual landing left me wanting still.

I think this film could have actually benefited from being slightly longer in order for us to truly enjoy the juiciness of its thematic implications and gorgeous atmosphere.

Nia DaCosta flexes serious directorial skills. Yahya Abdul-Mayeen II and Teyonah Parris are sublime. Still, there wasn’t quite enough there to entirely stick the landing.
