Wonderful film. Strange but fascinating, fun, and inventive for it's time. It's still pretty unique today. Has something for the kids and adults to like. Gene Wider slips into probably his most iconic role and gives a fantastic and eccentric performance. I can't imagine anyone else playing him. As far as I'm concerned, the piss-poor Burton remake from 2005 does'nt exist. This is the only Chocolate Factory I want to visit time and time again. This is the film you remember loving as a kid; the kind of love that resonates into adulthood.
