I dunno how the fuck he did it but James Wan managed to deliver a scene from maybe one of the best action movies of the year, a series of utterly bonkers twists (genuinely not just as advertised), old school spooky vibes, genuine comedy, thrills and spills worthy of the finest rollercoasters both real and cinematic, and a great undercurrent about over coming trauma and not only does it work, it owns. Poetic cinema.
