Where the Crawdads Sing

Where the Crawdads Sing ★★★½

This was a really cool marriage of the Nicholas Sparks-esque romantic drama and the courtroom drama centering injustice and prejudice and it managed to cover a lot of ground in both territories without sacrificing a lot of narrative value. I found myself getting totally wrapped up in the flashbacks and then being pleasantly punched by a quick shift to the courtroom in present day; the movement between narratives was very fluid and effective. Daisy Edgar-Jones continues to prove how much she deserves a place in the Gen-Z A-list, and David Strathairn is my sweetie pie as always.
