Gonna revisit all 5 in the next few days.
Part 1 of 5.
Might have the greatest character intro scene ever. Without a doubt the movie I have seen the most (easily ~10 times), watched it on a loop circa 2005-06, was the first (of few) DVD I owned. A remarkable feat of entertainment. The action set pieces are amazing, the story is great, the score is as good as I remember.
Also started my fascination with one of the greatest modern American actors, Johnny Depp ... until he started to lose a lot of steam (still he has about a solid 15-20 year period, ~1990-2010, in which he was unbelievably good, and that is more than most actors can say). And of course, this is the first time I saw the extremely cute Keira Knightley. And Orlando Bloom was on a career high, what with The Lord of the Rings and then getting the lead in a big Disney blockbuster, following it up shortly with Troy. But shame that he failed to live up to these highs.
And it is crazy that an actor was nominated for a Disney blockbuster based on a theme park ride. That’s how great Depp was in this one.
