You think countries run the fucking world? Go back to fucking Sunday school. It's 'God save our multinational' they're singing these days.

This isn't going to be about the movie. I just finished reading the book a few days ago and decided to rewatch the movie. When I first saw this, a couple of years after its release, I hadn't even heard the name John le Carré. I saw it as a fan of Fiennes and Weisz and because I…

This is how much disconnected I am with the current music scene: I had no idea that Alana Haim is a musician of some renown, along with her sisters, in the band Haim, and had even less of an idea that PTA had directed several music videos for them. According to Spotify wrap up, my most listened artist was The Rolling Stones and the most listened song was Wild Horses. As Kurt Vonnegut would say, un-un-stuck in time.

    But it…

I would crawl for miles and happily settle in a dead-end, middle of nowhere, purgatorial town if it had Virginia Madsen and Jennifer Connelly in it. Seeing Connelly on that beach and in that lagoon, wearing that skimpy bikini, and much less, is what heaven must be like, I presume.

A damn good neo-noir, drips with seediness, filled with well drawn and textured characters, and unravels at the pace of a novel. Loved the setting and atmosphere of it. Dennis…

Was surprised at how much I liked it.

A chamber room, moral quandary thriller with M. Night's flair for visuals and his usual terribly stilted dialogue pared down (possibly because it is an adaptation and he had co-writers), and the performances are also far more natural than some of his other work (particularly Old recently).

It's far less scary or thought provoking than some of the first teasers made it out to be, but a good enough 90 minutes time at the pictures.

Dane DeHaan. This kid has a bright future, if he keeps making good choices. I didn't think anything could make me want to see The Amazing Spider Man 2, but now I am looking forward to it due to DeHaan's presence.

Anywho, he is not the only star of the movie. A rendition of the origins of Beat Era, this has a who's who of literary names: Allen Ginsberg (who takes the centre stage here with a tremendous performance from…

This is going to go down like honey for the You Must Remember This pod listeners.

Based on the promos for this, the two most common comparisons thrown around were The Wolf of Wall Street and Once Upon a Time in ... Hollywood (co-incidentally starring the two leads of this movie), but let me throw another one in the mix: Boogie Nights. As a matter of fact there is an extended sequence towards the end of this that is right…
