Really neat if you're a Pokemon fan, probably not that interesting if you aren't.
This movie is a fucking Trainwreck in like the best possible way. It's a woke millennial hipster version of a Hallmark movie where a girl dies because she was texting while driving and her ghost can only interact with the last guy she dated and also her best friend so she starts dating the guy and then has ghost sex with him and then ghosts him while she's a ghost and then ascends after telling her best friend how great…
Vampires in the Southern United States: leave it to Kathryn Bigelow to make it work. There's something about the way she lets a scene linger that I really appreciate whether it be a vampire burning to death in the sunlight or a particularly brutal bar murder scene. I also appreciate her dedication to "show, don't tell."
I dunno what happened to make Bigelow obsessed with war/military movies but I wish she's go back to doing weird stuff like this.
