Absolutely devastating in every way! I have been pushing this film off because I was afraid I was going to be let down. Boy, was I wrong. The fact that I love this film so much just proves how masochistic I am. In all seriousness, It Comes At Night is a masterful piece of filmmaking and visual storytelling. Everything from the layout of the house to the small bits of “insignificant” dialogue builds upon itself brilliantly. Darkness and light is…

Sure. An aggressively average script slightly elevated by some interesting camera work and Soderbergh’s direction. The acting was fine for the most part but I couldn’t care less about the plot. Really wanted to like this because I’m a fan of Soderbergh. I’m glad some people are enjoying this, though. Just not my cup of tea overall.

Damn, Mads sure got the moves! Seriously, though, this film is a really fantastic exploration of drinking culture and how it literary consumes people's lives. As someone who struggles with emotional/compulsive eating as a way to cope with reality, I resonate with films that explore addictive behaviors and how they affect individuals. A lot of the commentary about alcoholism hits hard emotionally, even if it's a tad bit on the nose. There are so many fantastic performances here, especially Mads. Top that with nice cinematography and great music. It's not quite on the level of The Hunt, yet this is still a great achievement in filmmaking.

I wonder if they ever made a video game based on The Thing? Oh, wait... *Dead Body Reported*
