Really surprised that this forgotten Gen X masterpiece only has a 2.8 on Letterboxd (and a 12% on Rotten Tomatoes!) because I love absolutely everything about it from beginning to end. Gaia hadn't been on my radar at all, but the cover art caught my attention while I was scrolling through Hulu & I just pressed play randomly. Ended up enjoying this a lot. Felt a bit like a spiritual sequel to Annihilation (2018) with some Gretel & Hansel (2020) vibes mixed in. How did director Alex Israel convince Keanu Reeves, Pamela Anderson, Goldie Hawn, Rosanna Arquette and Molly Ringwald to participate in his feature film debut? Were they all blackmailed? Why else would any of them agree to be a part of this trash after reading the insipid dialogue in the script?
