Seb’s review published on Letterboxd:
Roma follows the life and struggles of domestic worker, Cleo. I have seen quite a few films of a serious and sad nature recently, Roma, while in a similar vein, is a more hopeful film to me. I won’t get into spoiler territory; however, I will just say that this is an emotional rollercoaster and more often than not you will find yourself deeply empathizing with many of the characters in film, not just Cleo. Additionally, I think that the choice to release the film in black and white is impactful. Contrasts stand out and the cinematography is striking at times. My only complaint, and it is small, is that I believe it could be a few minutes shorter, the pacing drags slightly at times. That being said, This is not a significant issue and I would quickly recommend Roma to anyone who is interested in films of this nature.
