Cinderella ★★★

Mini Review

I didn't actually mind Kay Cannon's Cinderella adaptation as much as I thought I would. The whole thing stinks of mediocrity and nowadays it's incredibly difficult to make a Cinderella movie feel fresh, which this one unfortunately doesn't achieve. However, most of the musical sequences are pretty good and there are some genuinely funny jokes peppered throughout. Camila Cabello's acting debut is solid enough and the supporting cast including Idina Menzel and Billy Porter are clearly very comfortable in the genre. Honestly if you're flicking through Prime Video looking for something to watch one evening there are certainly worse films than this.
