Sam Connon’s review published on Letterboxd:
I respect Roma for its technically well-done filmmaking by Alfonso Cuarón, but I just couldn’t get into it.
The characters were stagnant, the plot was thin and I was just waiting for it to end. There were two really tense sequences (the beach scene and the protest/birth scene), and I appreciated those for getting me engaged, but there just wasn’t that much else there.
I’m not particularly disappointed or shocked, because I could tell what I was going to get going into it, but I still didn’t really enjoy it.
