Portrait of a Lady on Fire

Portrait of a Lady on Fire ★★★★½

In many ways feels like a deliberate correction to Call Me By Your Name, sharing a similar narrative and vaguely intellectual, kinda bougie aesthetic, but bringing the muted eroticism to the fore in some really interesting and visually striking ways.

I'm generally bored of this recent glut of (mostly lesbian for some reason!) queer period pieces, especially since most of them don't really do anything interesting or radical with their settings -- think Caravaggio, but without the anachronisms.
