too many movies, not enough time
Guardians of the Galaxy 2014
I was 8 years old when this movie released.
(To be clear, I born in 2005. Don’t wanna get lumped in with those 2006 kids amirite)
It was the first MCU movie I saw in theaters (I had seen the others at home). During that time I would still be scared of going to the theater. Even though I was excited, I would just get really nervous on the car ride there. I think it was mostly due to being…
New Nightmare 1994
“FADE TO BLACK.”
I first saw New Nightmare last year and it instantly became one of my favorite movies of all time, so I was very happy to be invited onto the F-Stop Pod to talk about it!
I had a very fun time talking about this movie (and many other movies too) and I hope you give the episode a listen!
Ep. 23: New Nightmare with Sbubbs | F-Stop Pod
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse 2023
“Nah… imma do my own thing.”
Everything the first movie is, but even better and even more.
There’s just so much great stuff in here. Amazing animation, amazing story, amazing characters, just amazing everything. Despite the longer runtime, the movie just flies by and you’ll be left wanting more (in a good way).
I definitely like this one more than Into the Spider-Verse. The jump in animation quality is like going from Avatar 1 to Avatar 2,…
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2018
It’s fun, amazingly animated, and a great movie, but there’s just something missing for me that keeps it from being a 5/5. I guess it’s that I never really had an emotional connection or reaction to it. Maybe with more watches I’ll get something (this is only my 2nd viewing after all), but hey that’s just my opinion.
I can totally understand why people love this movie so much, and hopefully I end up loving Across The Spider-Verse!
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 2023
“I love you guys.”
It was a very hard task to conclude a trilogy of some of the greatest superhero movies of all time, but James Gunn managed to make another banger.
Honestly, I’m mostly surprised that I didn’t cry.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is often sad, dark, and surprisingly violent, but Gunn still manages to keep the comedy, action, and character moments of the previous movies intact. Some of the funniest moments and greatest action…
Shazam! Fury of the Gods 2023
I’m a big fan of the first Shazam movie, but the trailers for this one didn’t get me excited at all, and once the reviews started coming out I knew I wasn’t going to see this in theaters.
But now, 3 months later, I finally watched it now that it’s on Max™…
and I actually really enjoyed it!
(though I still never felt like I missed out by not seeing it in theaters)
