As deplorable as the depiction of Hinduism and Indians is here, and how much the second half hour drags, I was surprised at how exciting and entertaining the rest of the film was.
That opening, what...20 minutes?...truly is fun as hell. And as soon as that guy gets his heart torn out, the movie's pretty much all action from there on out. And, seriously...that fucking minecart chase. Holy shit.
It may not be in my top five favorite films of Speilberg, but it's definitely in the top ten. Much better than I remember it being.
