Ivan's Childhood

Ivan's Childhood ★★★★

The beautiful surrealism of Ivan’s dreams mixed with the devastating and brutal realism of war. A coming of age story where we never actually get to see Ivan come of age. He’s been seasoned and matured under the most excruciating circumstances imaginable from before we even meet him in the story. He’s probably even seen more trauma than all of his so called superiors. By the way this thing has some of the greatest long tracking shots I’ve ever seen, but it’s Tarkovsky, I should’ve expected nothing less.
