Licorice Pizza

Licorice Pizza ★★★★★

watched in 70mm.

she’s older. he’s younger. *red flag* but is age all that governs a relationship? no cynicism at play, it’s within that question that Licorice Pizza lives in.

she’s mature. he’s immature. she’s lost in life. he’s sure of his purpose. PTA creates a contrasting duo and follows them around the 1970s; any conflict that arises is a consequence of characters interacting with their surroundings. it feels like it’s on auto-pilot in the most magical way possible.

no notes. PTA’s slice of life is hilarious and charming beyond belief. a triumph of writing.
