Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers ★★★½

Holy f*cking gorgonzola, Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers has a boat load of inventiveness up it's sleeve, taking full advantage of the magic realist world introduced in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? - one of my favorite films of all time by the way - with both enthusiasm and originality for equal measure. Now, mind you, it's definitely no Roger Rabbit, as not only couldn't Rescue Ranger's resist one fart joke, but the film also definitely spends more time on telling jokes and slinging gags - which certainly do not always land - than it does on crafting a satisfying detective centric story. That all said however, this is what I want from Disney. The world reintroduced in Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers - one where humans and fictional animated characters cohabitate - is a world ripe for boundless creativity and vision driven narratives. If Disney is going to inevitably own everything, then I want The Mouse to take me to worlds where anything can happen.
