Perfection. Seriously, this movie is perfect. It may seem like I'm giving 5's to a lot of movies lately, but I've been watching a lot of incredible films and this is certainly one of them. From it's amazing opening to its haunting final shot, this movie is just perfect. One of the best movies I've ever seen.
The Graduate( for the few of you who weren't aware) is a comedy drama directed by Mike Nichols, based off of the novel of the same name. It follows Benjamin Braddock, a recent college graduate who just doesn't know what he wants to do with his life. He returns home and starts having an affair with a friend of his parents, Mrs. Robinson. Things become complicated when Mrs. Robinson's daughter comes into the picture. That's all I'll say about the plot, but it's seriously incredible with one of the best screenplays in movie history.
The acting is really amazing. This is the first of the classic Dustin Hoffman movies I've seen and he really impressed me. He plays Benjamin incredibly well. He plays him shy and sympathetic, yet at the same time, kind of unlikable. There's points where you root for Ben and points where you want to punch him in the face and that's all down to Hoffman's amazing performance.
Equally as good imo is Anne Bancroft as Mrs. Robinson. Mrs. Robinson is a very complex character, full of a wide range of emotions and Anne plays her perfectly. The rest of the cast all do a really great job as well, including Katherine Ross as Elane.
The soundtrack is amazing. It features many incredible songs from the folk rock group Simon and Garfunkel. The cinematography is 10/10. The pacing is really great. Really, the movie doesn't have any flaws. I feel that Hoffman might have been a little old to play Ben( Hoffman was 30 when he did this and his character is 20-21), but he plays him so well that you honestly don't even care.
So to put it simply, go watch this movie. Like right now. Stop what you're doing and go watch it. Torrent it, buy the blu ray, rent it, I don't care, just watch it. It's an important film that has influenced a lot and is an essential film to watch. I can't believe it took me this long to see it, I should have watched it ages ago. Anyway, thank you for reading.
........ What are you still doing here? Go watch the movie.
.......... Mrs. Robinson is the best movie milf. Ever.
