Ryan McSwain’s review published on Letterboxd:
The VHS rip on YouTube has smokey blue warmth that I dig.
In one of the first scenes, Brion James calls out to someone named “Leon,” which was his character in Blade Runner. I’m convinced they're going for the Blade Runner aesthetic, which makes for a murky, nice-looking flick with pounding synths. Unfortunately, the writing and editing isn’t up to the same quality as the lighting and set design. The monster looks pretty good, but isn’t filmed that well.
When it comes to the weird niche of animal testing ’80s horror, this isn’t a must see. But if you’re looking for some cheap lighting inspiration, it might be worth a visit.
