I refuse to give this movie a rating. That means I acknowledge it as a "movie" and as a result, recognize it has some sort of artistic merit, even by the slimmest of margins. However, this is playing right into Disaster Movie's hands. As a result I refuse to acknowledge this with any sort of rating whatsoever. Go, and I cannot stress this enough, fuck yourself.
Honestly starts off promising with fun performances by Eddie Murphy, Jamie Foxx, and Jennifer Hudson, but can't help but fall into the same boring cliches that plague similar musicals and musician biopics. It doesn't help that most of the songs start blending together and it has absolutely nothing to say about the music industry, black musicians having to sanitize their art to appeal to white audiences, and Detroit at the height of the race riots. This should be better than just an average musical, especially with that cast.
