"Light everywhere, like the whole thing was built with light. I wish you could see what I see."
This is a seriously gorgeous film. Yes, it ends a bit quickly, it spends a little too much time on a war sequence, and it is, undoubtedly, a mess. But, it is the Wachowskis and the sheer scope of their trilogy is stunning and could never be replicated today. It's so personable in its sloppiness and so very human. Neo, who risked everything for those he loves, kneels, defeated and alone; yet, all he sees is light. And the nihilistic Agent Smith can do nothing but wonder why. In the horror of its annihilation, humanity faces the world with hope and wonder, choosing to persist forevermore.
