Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl ★★★½

Parlay.
“But you have heard of me…”

The beginning is always a classic. This is a rare case for me though, this is my least favorite of the trilogy. That’s right, trilogy. Because there’s only 3. The two to follow only expound and elevate the world and characters. Here, it wonderfully introduces and develops everyone. For a 2003 film, the effects of the skeletons is super well done. Can’t imagine how long that took.

The BEST character, and I think without argument, is Jack. The man has the best lines, the best character, the best escapes. He’s got it all and is so much fun to watch. Second best is a close Will Turner. Bloom just is so good and killed it in the early 2000 movies. Also Klaus Badelt just established a monster score here. One of the most recognizable movie tracks ever is “He’s a Pirate”.

Fun watch for a Tuesday night. Might motivate me to watch the other 2 sometime soon.
