So many strange choices. Some downright silly, but mostly just cruel and cringe. It is incredibly well lit though and that seems to be enough for some folks.

A true sensory experience. Add this to the list of music documentaries(with Todd Haynes’ The Velvet Underground and Scorsese’s The Rolling Thunder Revue)that make the biopic of rockstars utterly futile. The fusion of the filmmaker’s and musician’s aesthetics in these docs come closer to locating the artistic spirit of the subjects than any biopic ever has(except maybe Haynes’ The Velvet Goldmine and I’m Not There which both happen to be very unconventional).

No cookie-cutter images here! Refreshing to see a cbm with artistic integrity and cinematic spirit. The set design and lighting alone work together to create a strong enough noir-ish vibe to make the massive runtime irrelevant. And then there’s the sweltering chemistry between Zoë and Rob that is the main draw, and that all movies could use more of tbh

Terms like lush and painstaking are overused when describing cinematography but are a perfect fit for The Green Knight. There’s a sight to behold in every frame of this film. I’m not ashamed to admit parts of this flew right over my head and the pacing felt a little off, but my goodness I was completely enveloped in the stunning, verdant visual palette from the opening frame. I’d suggest seeing this in theaters if possible because the lighting (both natural and expressionistic) is very dark and streaming is not going to do it justice
