Ryan Sutton’s review published on Letterboxd:
“And remember the story of Icarus, whose father gave him wings of wax. Warned him not to fly too close to the sun. But the exhilaration was too great. So he flew higher and higher, until the sun melted his wings, and he fell into the sea. The US Army is not an irresponsible father. So they gave us wings of hot Pennsylvania steel, guaranteed not to melt.”
Not quite as good as I remembered it being. It’s definitely entertaining and all the stuff involving Kong fighting Skull-Crawlers is super fun to watch but there’s some undeniably bad green screen. Some of the shots were so bad that they took me out of the movie completely. The script is also mediocre at best but the cast is fun and the soundtrack is fantastic. Overall, Kong: Skull Island is pure, unadulterated fun... just not as good as I remember it being.
