It's not easy to play all those notes, but this is pretty much perfect. Great music, lovely production design and cinematography, and this is the best Don Johnson role since... well since forever.
Ahhh this was such fun.
Pretty conventional in some ways, using the classic 80s slasher tropes - kids at camp, monstrous killer, gruesome kill set pieces - but done with such obvious glee and (dare I say it) respect for the genre) that it was all just very likeable.
The kids have chemistry and character enough to root for them (more so than maaaaany other contemporary slashers), the kills are gruesome and effective due to excellent work by Maestro Tom Savini with some excellent set pieces, the soundtrack is really fun, direction is steady and suspenseful when it needs to be.

Completely underrated, very good heroic bloodshed vehicle for Chow Yun Fat and Ti Lung. The only reason this gets meh reviews because people place it next to A Better Tomorrow, and it's not quite in that league. (Well, duh)
This however is way better than its reputation. Both leads are charismatic and fun to watch, with some nice character moments. I didn't find the typical HK tonal meandering a problem at all, in fact I think it added to the experience.
Final third features some damn fine action, and possibly the most devastating shotgun I've ever seen on film.
