Sliver 1993
The more I think about this the dumber it seems, but I still find it hard to dislike. I like the music, and think Sharon Stone is pretty. I donβt remember her acting being this bad though. I read the book a few years ago and frankly didnβt think it was much better than this, except the ending made sense.

Traveling Man 1989
A cross between Tommy Boy and Glengarry Glen Ross. I really liked how it portrays the world of sales; something I know little about other than I would hate it and be horrible at it. The non-sales storylines are less interesting and probably the main reason for the poor ratings. Still, it's nice to see Lithgow carry a film. He is in almost every scene and I don't think any other film can boast that. I found a copy in the library but it is on the YouTube:

December Heat 2008
Excellent Estonian war pic about a Communist coup in 1924. The commies are mean, scowling, cruel, and wear black; the loyal freedom-loving Estonians are brave and heroic, yet the story is told without irony. Perfect.

Can you imagine?β*Β When I saw the trailer it looked as though it was going to be an earnest respectful remake, but very similar to the original. I wondered why Spielberg would do such a thing, and now that Iβve seen it Iβm still wondering. Sure; he is such a great craftsman he made a good movie out of it. Iβm sure he couldβ¦

Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory 1971
I never thought I could walk into my local theater and choose from E. T., Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, the original Fast and the Furious, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,Β and The Fellowship of the Ring all at the same time.Β Then some guy in China eats an undercooked bat* and now here we are. I can't say I'm suffering. I love watching this stuff. Β I've never seen the original Wonka in a theater, or even in High Def. I didβ¦
