Rosie’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is a savage action fantasy film of revenge. Alexander Skarsgard stars as Prince Amleth, and he’s on the quest to avenge his father, who was murdered by his uncle. Excellent performances by everyone. Skarsgard and Anya Taylor-Joy (Last Night in Soho) shine in this. And there were spotlighted moments with Ethan Hawke, Willem Defoe, and Nicole Kidman. I’m not familiar with some of the Norse mythology and symbolism, so there were a few parts that went over my head. The action was intense and visceral. They mostly used their time well but it was a long visual film. There was not a lot of dialogue. It was shot expertly. The landscape was gorgeous and when it’s muddy, it’s gnarly. It was riveting in its barbaric nature. I can’t wait to see more from Robert Eggers.
