Waited to watch this until I finished the book, which ended up being unnecessary as this film covers only about 5 pages of the 750 page novel. Cutting out the complicated geopolitics and endless populist-nihilist speechifying that bogged down the book was smart. Cutting out the numerous side characters that were all more likeable and interesting than our main character, not so much.
I'll have to rewatch this to really judge it fairly as I spent most of this watch…
