A testament to the movie's effectiveness: during the ending, as Park peers into the drainage canal, I has the sudden realization that I was begging for there to be a corpse stuffed in there, something, anything to keep the investigation going or give me (and him) closure. The pseudo fourth wall break at the end feeds into that too, framing the whole thing not just as an evaluation of a cop's obsessive relationship to violence but…
