I find this film to oddly have had one of the most meteoric rises of a film I’ve ever watched. I’ve watched films and seen my general opinion change, but never has one film so perfectly risen from a 4 to a 5. When I think about Ordinary People, I think of a masterpiece of cinema. Robert Redford’s most refined piece. I love this film for so many reasons and it would take me forever to explain my love for…

One of the greatest gangster epics ever is the only way to describe this film. A truly haunting experience, it’s one that you don’t forget very easily. In Leone’s final film, which can be said as his magnum opus, it rounds out his career in perfect style. His direction is superb in every way. the film accomplishes so much throughout, giving us a full detail on the rise of a group of kids who would slowly become troubled by their…

Incredible. I'm floored by Wenders' work here. Such a soothing, meditative film. Basically the film equivalent of a Sade album. Yakusho is nothing short of amazing, his acting in the second half is incredible. The gradual reveal of the story is great, while keeping a restrained focus on the not-so black and white character of Hirayama. The choice of music is great, basically a Velvet Underground fanboy film lol. Other than a pretty thin exploration of the main character that I feel like would've furthered this film, this is amazing.

I've been waiting for this film for ages, so when I say it didn't disappoint, it didn't disappoint. This is so goddamn unique I could not believe what I was seeing. There are a lot of uninspired satires that never truly seek to expose the topic it's satirizing, so to see Jefferson make something that truly challenges the tropes of black literature is amazing. Jefferson for a first-time director is phenomenal, effectively examining the topic at hand while garnering maximum…

One of the most unhinged films I've seen in ages. And it's incredible. This is not an easy watch, but the tone shifts that shape the narrative are magnificent. Beautiful photography and design help bolster the feel of this film, but you cannot go wrong with the cast. Keoghan is obviously the standout, who is currently one of the most talented young actors working right now. Pike and Grant are quality scene stealers, and the rest of the ensemble is…

Before I start this review, I wanna give a massive shoutout to the homie that decided to drop The Holdovers on VOD this early. This film is too good to be VOD fodder.

Alexander Payne comes back with a rich and beautiful film that honestly is the defining example of a comfort film, all whilst portraying the schmaltzy parts of life that many suffer. Yes, it could have easily turned into a sobfest but instead of focusing on those pointless…
