Blade Runner

Blade Runner ★★★★★

I decided on "The Final Cut" version of Ridley Scott's Sci Fi classic: Blade Runner. It's my personal favourite cut of this impressive Science Fiction film. In a dark vision of the future mankind has developed the technology to create perfect humanoid androids known as "replicants" who are used to serve in colonies outside of Earth. Replicants are very difficult to spot and can blend into society almost unnoticed. Harrison Ford is Deckard, a retired "Blade Runner" - whose job specialises in hunting down and terminating replicants. He is brought out of retirement as 6 dangerous replicants escape from an off-world colony to Earth.

This is quite possibly the greatest Sci Fi film ever made so I won't harp on about how good it is. What is interesting is regarding this version. I particularly like the extended scene of Deckard's unicorn dream sequence which I think helps explain certain unsaid aspects of the original version. The Blu ray is beautiful and it has been scrubbed up really well with amazing sound and visuals. It has a few extra scene additions and more importantly they have shortened a few initial scenes that seemed overly long after they had removed the narration from the original version. This version has also upped the violence and all original violence that was cut out has been reinserted in all their head crushing, eye gouging glory.

Blade Runner is a absolute classic. Isn't it about time you watched it again? I certainly think so.
