I've not seen the original cut for the best part of a decade, so I can't really make much of a comparison, but I thought this new cut The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone was genuinely a masterpiece. I think it's the perfect conclusion to the story, portraying Michael Corleone's slow death, not in physical terms, but in emotional and spiritual terms, as he lives to see everything he cares about be taken away from him, due to a life he never wanted any part in. You can see echoes from the past, and ripples into the future, as inter-generational violence and suffering destroys his family.
Hopefully the film is now seen in a more favourable light with this new cut. Either way, I loved it.
