"Showtime, A-holes!"
- Starlord
... and that's one pretty big understatement
Movies like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 are gems. They're gems because they do exactly what they're intended to do - entertain.
When you see a film like this one, you're transported to that awesome place where nothing matters outside of that cinema. Bad shit at work - gone. Stresses with the family, forgotten. You're in that bubble - that special, happy place you know you can escape to for two and a bit hours that is entirely yours. You don't have to share it with anyone (although quite a lot of us do), you don't even have to think about anything else. You just let yourself become one with the moment and everything, at least for two hours, is right with the world.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 is fantastic because a) Dancing Baby Groot b) Laughing Baby Groot c) Just... awesome Baby Groot!!!!
It's hysterical because a) Drax and his one liners can't help but steal the show b) Funny shit happening when you least expect it - usually just before (or during) an intense smashing-shit-up kind of scene c) Rocket's infectious laugh
So what - is this entire movie just one big joke?
Hell No! It has its more sentimental moments too (no, seriously, it does like... at least two)
It's definitely one of the better action movies to release this year (so far) and it'll be a difficult one to beat
But it also sucked a little because Starlord's character development goes to a "WTF??!!" place near the end. For me, it didn't seem to fit with the rest of the film which is ALL good until this point
It's KICK ASS because Sylvester Stallone has the smallest part in the film but somehow manages to pull off 'cool' better than anyone else - well... with the exception of Baby Groot.
And again with the amazing soundtrack listing... these guys have that shit on lock-down! Tell me your feet didn't start tapping along when "Chains" by Fleetwood Mac comes blaring through the speakers.
I dunno guys, I could go on and on about this film. There are so many things to share. I guess what I'm trying to say is, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 delivered exactly what I expected and put a smile on my face.
Go and see this film. Let yourself relax and enjoy the ride because it's "Showtime, A-holes!"... so get ready to be entertained.
