  West Side Story 2021

  We interrupt the Scorsese Rewatch with a break from Steven Spielberg:

  So so good. Does feel very new-Era Spielberg in a lot of ways but still manages to be charming and sincere, with amazing camerawork and kinetic energy radiating thought. “Maria” and “America” specifically are stand out musical numbers. 

  Fabel-Man does hit a bit harder for me but this is still a great addition to his filmography.

  I was optimistic about this one, as it’s flown under the radar and a couple customers said it was good.

  I will never be trusting customers again. This had some things going for it; Nic Cage was great as always and Ron Pearlman won be over by the end, but the dialogue and scenes were very repetitive towards the middle/end and it got extremely taxing.   First date movie since… March I think? Movie is still good, third act still elevates it from fine to good. Do you know what wasn’t so good? My date.
