Great American satire disguised as a genre film, directed by a Dutch director, who is not Paul Verhoeven - but director/actress Halina Reijn, who starred in Verhoeven's "Black Book".
Surprisingly funny with a strong ensemble cast and another outstanding performance from "Shiva Baby" actress Rachel Sennot. Really didn't expect to like it this much.
After reading for years how underrated this 3rd film in the series was, I think my expectations were a little too high. Great cinematography and soundtrack, but the story was complete mumbo jumbo. It's positive to mention that this is clearly a precursor to (in my opinion much better) late 80s anti-consumerism horror films like Child's Play & They Live. Overall it was alright, I guess - perhaps a rewatch will enlighten me.

I love every single element of this (train-setting, Lee & Cushing, Agatha Christie, Lovecraft), but somehow it doesn't quite come together. Enjoyable nonetheless - maybe my rating will be higher on a rewatch.

Watched: German Blu-Ray
Koji Shiraishi simply makes the best and most creative found footage horror films of them all. On the negative side are some over the top acting moments and silly character choices. Don't read too many reviews before watching it because most of them spoil the ending.
