no films captured indonesia's relationship with violence and toxic masculinity as excellent as this one. a great tribute to classic asian martial-arts movies and a brilliant exercise on tonal shift. charming and irreverent on one hand, cool and badass on another.
there's a complex intersection between violence, sex, love, masculinity, money, and indonesia's sociopolitical landscape that the film captures so so well. edwin never misses! also, ladya cheryl can step on my chest anytime and i'd be happy to do it again and again. man, i'm a proud indonesian 🤙
