Peter Rogers’s review published on Letterboxd:
A masterful homage to Tom Holland’s “I don’t want to go” Spider-Man scene, Quinton Tarantino’s Hateful Eight, and all those 90s reimaginings of Agatha Christie who-done-its.
Bad Times at the El Royale is fun tale, looks beautiful, sports a killer soundtrack and boasts some solid acting and set pieces. Much like Tarantino, the wildly talented Drew Goddard got too self-indulgent and could have shaved 30 minutes through editing.
Overall, really enjoyed this non-linear heist thriller, and who doesn’t love a shirtless, dancing culty Chris Hemsworth eating pie!
