My final full day in my parents' house in Templeboy, Co. Sligo before they move. This film is so strongly associated with this house; with weird nights watching films found on TV; with desperately trying to find something me and my mother can both enjoy; with returning to small towns from cities, bringing the energy of a city with you; clashing with parents. I think it's a marvellous film, a proper Hollywood character epic with across-the-board stellar performing and filmmaking…

The mom's Pod Save America tshirt is evidence of the immaculate detail in this gen z Before Sunrise that hit me so personally and deeply that I almost don't wanna talk about it. I hope this hasn't set back my beloved Rory Kinnear's career because it stinks. I don't like Jessie Buckley, or Alex Garland, or this type of moody mental health horror, or the fact this was obviously only made because it was an extremely Covid friendly production. Such a snooze.

Operates in the same space as The Rise Of Skywalker so you have to wonder if the Captain's version of that would've really been so different from what you got. Campbell Scott is fun casting even if he's on his Amazing Spider-Man buzz. I barely noticed Chris Pratt being in this, he has so little dialogue?? And I have a higher tolerance than most for him. Neill and Dern two superbly generous performers even with this muck. Don't remember anything from the previous two movies so was largely lost. Also read a book the entire time this was on.

Amazing experiment in not showing your titular characters for more than 5 seconds due to budget constraints

Screened this for my university's film society tonight and 1 person showed up. I gave him a box of cookies as a reward, and he stayed to the very end.
