Let me first start this by saying, happy birthday Toshiro Mifune (1920 - 1997) Who would have been 101…
Directed by Jean-Piere Melville and featuring french superstar Alain Delon, Le Cercle Rouge is a jaw dropping masterpiece in the crime thriller genre and easily one of the greatest films to ever come out of France. Drawing inspiration from films like Dassin's 'Rififi' (1955) and Godard's 'Breathless' (1960), Le Cercle Rouge is a masterclass in writing, design and storytelling.
Melville purpusefully takes it time setting things up before eventually moving into it's main attraction in the second half. But i…
This wasn't super bad or anything, and yes it's great how much had been accomplished on such a tiny budget, it just didn't do much for me. Also the entire film looks and feels very real and authentic. I love how real every character comes across in this film and i love how good every scene looks aesthetically. The filming locations are great and i really enjoyed the overall style of Z. There's attention too every little detail, and every…
