I don’t remember liking this one very much in theatres but it was better the second time around. Very campy. Silly story. The romance was far fetched, even for a Bond movie.

But it’s fun! I had fun.

The best film of Daniel Craig’s bonds, but his second best if we’re taking the series into account. His best Bond movie in that regard is Casino Royale.

Skyfall stands on its own, though, with an excellent performance by Bardem (as usual) and Craig showing more vulnerability than usual. This one feels more nuanced than the others.

Deakins also knocked it out of the park as expected.

Striking. Its relatively predictable story is compensated by superb execution. Rides a razor thin line but never crosses over into melodrama. Riz Ahmed is electric.

Unsurprising I liked it so much given that Darius Marder was a writer on Place Beyond the Pines, and Derek Cianfrance co-wrote and produced Sound of Metal.

The doc medium already walks a fine ethical line by presenting "truth" through the lens of either intentional or unintentional bias, and to add another layer of uncertainty as to what's real feels reckless and a line I'm not sure we want to cross. Had Neville disclosed the use of the technology I might feel differently,…
