Cruise Control
Decent entry and competently made. But while I’m rating this the same as II, I much rather prefer II. Philip Seymour Hoffman is great, by far the best thing about this and maybe the franchise’s best villain, but isn’t in this nearly enough. Needed way more scenes of Hoffman just tearing into Hunt’s bravado while keeping completely ice fucking cold.
Feels like the studio was getting ready to close out the franchise and thank goodness they didn’t stop…

Camp horror! Giallo but filtered through the peak of Dark Castle pictures. Wan is having the fucking time of his life and goddamn it so am I! The moody Where Is My Mind? remix plays not once but TWICE and both times are perfect! How I wish I could have experienced this in a packed theater! Bet that police precinct assault had everyone hootin’ and hollarin’. Love that we’re getting at least one wild ass commercial horror film every year, we really do deserve them. Now where is Malignant 2?!?
