Waves is definitely a movie of two halves. The first half boasts an absolutely killer soundtrack, super cool blue and red neon lights and an amazing lead performance from Kelvin Harrison Jr. To be honest, every performance throughout the entire movie is perfection, but he definitely steals the show in this half. Everything from the soundtrack to the camerawork and storyline is completely chaotic and attacks the senses, but I was all over this and…
This may be my most anticipated movie of all time, and that is always a scary feeling. It is one of the most hyped movies basically ever, and my expectations were so high, but Parasite somehow managed to exceed them.
First, can we just talk about those performances. I’ve obviously never seen any of these actors in a movie before, and I thought each and every actor was fantastic and captured their character perfectly. The movie looked stunning, particularly the…
It’s rare that I watch a movie that leaves me speechless, and I haven’t felt this way about a movie since I saw Mommy (2014) earlier this year. The way this movie explores sexual assault and how it affects your view of the world, sex and yourself was impeccable; it was difficult to watch at times, yet explored this topic successfully and with understanding. It said a million things that I struggle to say myself, and I commend the writers…
Totally my type of film, absolutely loved it. Though it appeared rough and gritty with both its aesthetics and characterisation, there was a humanly softness at its core that just completely won me over. The characters were heavily flawed but so uniquely interesting, and I loved their dynamic and watching their odd relationship blossom; great performances from Gallo and Ricci. The look of the movie was my favourite aspect, both the cinematography and colour grading coming together harmoniously. This was unlike anything I've ever seen before, I loved its way of storytelling and its lovingly odd characters, not to mention its editing and soundtrack.
This was even more amazing the second time around, which is why I’ve put it up to a 5.
Obviously, the best thing about this movie is the relationship between the two characters, and both Chalamet and Hammer do an impeccable job. The way they look at each other and hold each other is just so raw & real.
The cinematography is wonderful throughout, though quite subtle, it’s an aesthetically beautiful piece of film. The dull colouring of the movie is…
SO DAMN FUN!! I’m so glad this was good because I feel like James Gunn and the team really deserved it. Gunn was clearly the man for the job, as this was full of fun shlocky action, gore, brilliant comedy and a group of well written and likeable characters. Ratcatcher 2 was probably my favourite, and I really hope more is done with this character as she has so much potential. The performances were great all round from both returning actors…
