Draws obvious inspiration from many Vietnam era war movies, especially Apocalypse Now which it doesn’t even attempt to hide.

There’s still a solid combination of Spike’s early and more recent work which keeps this two and half hour long film fresh. I’ll say if it weren’t from him though, all this would have needed was for Fortunate Son to have been played to be indistinguishable amongst several other films within the genre.
