Javier Bardem should just exclusively play villains. He’s so goddamn good at it.

Apparently I love James Bond. I really didn’t think this series would do much for me, I was just trying to catch No Time to Die in theaters but oh my god I just got sucked right the hell in. I think I prefer this one to Casino Royale by just a little bit, which I also didn’t think was going to be possible.

    There’s just so…

This takes place during Christmas, and that alone makes it a better Christmas movie than it is a horror movie. No bueno.

The change in tone for this one was smart. It feels fresh since it’s a lot funnier and more free spirited than any of the previous movies, and it’s also the first one that doesn’t include the family from the original as a main part of the narrative.

Unfortunately it’s also the least eventful out of them all so far, so if the charm doesn’t suck you in, you’re in for a tedious ride. Better than Paranormal Activity 4 though.

I kind of dug this. I understand where everyone is coming from with their gripes (especially the stupid mob mentality thing and the very shoehorned fan service) but to be completely honest this scratched every itch I had, and sets up the third one to be exactly what I was hoping the third one would be.

There’s a few too many plot lines in this movie that don’t matter and feel like a bundle of throwaway scenes, but…

    “Fucking Prius.”

This is the first in the series that I would consider a cash grab. The first three all had something unique about them, adding to a story that actually became very engaging as each movie progressed. This has none of that, and feels incredibly lazy and forced.

At least it has Kathryn Newton.

    Paranormal Activity 3

All of these movies are pretty on par with each other, but I give this one the edge over the previous ones. The found footage aspect of these is slowly getting more and more creative and the dynamic of the characters in this one is definitely the most believable and entertaining of the series so far.

It’s also by far the scariest one. The first two creeped me out here and there, but the last 20 minutes of this one…

I’m actually kind of surprised at the amount of people who dislike this one. It was always going to be difficult to follow up Casino Royale, though I don’t think this is a bad movie at all. I will say it’s overly complicated at times, and I don’t think many of the side characters stood out very much. However, I liked the shift in style and the grittier, more grounded feel. I don’t like it more, but I do like…

    Paranormal Activity 2

This is pretty much the same as the first one but with more characters which makes it a lot more engaging. I don’t think it’s a better movie than the first one, but it was definitely easier to stay invested, especially with the amount of static ‘security camera’ shots that force the audience to scan the whole frame for anything out of place.

I like how they connected this to the first one without overusing the characters from it, especially…

There are shades of genius in this movie, but it doesn’t seem like they knew quite how to effectively turn this into something of feature length. There are far too many unnecessarily elongated and consequently boring scenes, and that’s what makes this work a lot less successfully than it could have. It’s already a very short movie so I wouldn’t necessarily say shortening it would have helped, but it definitely could have benefited from being more eventful.

    Though I will…

    Dear Evan Hansen

For most of this movie I actually thought people were overreacting and making this sound a lot worse than it is. Yes, Ben Platt looks completely out of place and the story is problematic, but the first two thirds of the movie I was fine with.

However, the last third of this movie is an abomination. A true shit show in the purest form. If you like the concept of this movie, I suggest watching Worlds Greatest Dad with Robin…

I have never seen a James Bond movie before, but I have seen all the Austin Powers movies so I was well prepared.

This is really dope. I love movies where people are just constantly one upping each other in poker; super entertaining for me. I will say though, it has never been harder to sit still than when that torture scene came on. Holy shit. I swear I could feel it through the TV.

Honestly worth it for the practical effects alone. That, and the body horror are both top tier and make this an absolute blast to watch. Cheesy and creepy - 80’s horror at its finest.
