I completely forgot how insane and scary this film got. That last act still shocks me even on a second viewing but I think we can all agree that's not the only scary part of this film. The Conjuring still stands as one of the best horror movies to come out in the 2010 decade along with stuff like A Quiet Place or Hereditary. While I wouldn't consider it perfect like those two films this one still has one hell of a creepy atmosphere, likable characters that you care for, an amazing direction by James Wan. beautiful cinematography and production design, a stellar cast with Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga as Ed and Lorraine Warren still being as amazing as ever, and most importantly some really good scares. I was worried the scares wouldn't be as effective on a rewatch but they still get out a good jump and are scary as hell. Overall I don't really have any more to say about this film. It's just another amazing horror film that gives its audience exactly what it wants. It may be similar to films like The Exorcist or Poltergeist but that in no way means it can't be both interesting and scary.
