Raúl Dudas-Lyne’s review published on Letterboxd:
I mean I'm always glad to see Hollywood's most underappreciated actor Sam Rockwell pick up a decent paycheck. And I like gorillas. And Sam Rockwell actually looks a bit like a gorilla. So there are positives. It's still not much, though, is it?
I've started this film so often, but I've never finished it. I now managed to sit through the entirety of it, and it was a real chore. It's so lifeless, completely devoid of any soul or spirit. Well done for making animated animals look a bit like real animals, I guess... that's not a movie though. You need other things, like a purpose, and a screenplay, and, preferably, something to keep me awake through this snoozefest.
This is the kind of middle-of-the-road fodder that makes up most of a year's new releases. See exactly where it enters my 2020 list, HERE.
