Perfect movie that is also one of the funniest of the last few decades?
It’s a half hour too long and the CGI is pretty bad, but there’s a lot I liked about this:
— Prioritizes story over theme
— Evokes an earlier era in horror/adventure: Orchestral score, straightforward characters, and, perhaps most importantly, PATIENCE
— Strong cast capable of selling some hokey dialogue
— Excellent creature design. I know I dinged the CGI, but the practical effects are as good as the digital ones are bad.
