Cinema won’t be the same til Paddington 3 comes out.
Alex Garland always has something incredible haunting to offer, whether it’s through the themes or it’s otherworldly, yet familiar depiction of life. Love to see him collaborating with a lot of the same main team from his previous two films, the visuals and score are simply beautiful. Love Jessie Buckley is the perfect lead for an Alex Garland film. Horror elements in here that I’ve never thought of and had me shriveling in my seat. Oh and I can’t forget, Rory Kinnear is great in all his roles here.
Doctor Strange is an understatement. I’d go as far as saying he’s weird as hell. Odd freaking guy. Especially when there’s more of him. Peculiar little magician guy.
It’s very nice to have Raimi back in the superhero field having a blast. Interesting that the recent multiverse movies just pose our leads the question “are you happy tho?”. The movie is dark and weird, but not weird enough! Show me some fucked up worlds, like perhaps, a world where everyone’s…
Emerald Fennell needs to be on everyone’s radar. Not only is this an extremely poignant critique on society (specifically rape culture) but a strong stylistic revenge film that has an immensely powerful voice.
Every element of this film hits the perfect note, even when it’s not what you were anticipating. It handles the subject matter perfectly by balancing the darker pertinent moments with some very well toned humor.
So far the best film of the festival and I can see this being on many top lists by the end of 2020. I’m so beyond excited to see what her next endeavors bring.
